Andrew Fish | Dentist

It’s fair to say I’m passionate about what I do. When you’ve seen the difference that you can make to someone’s quality of life through successful mouth rehabilitation, utilising both natural teeth and dental implants to restore someone’s appearance and function, that’s the reason I continue to develop myself and strive to provide ethical, patient-focused, quality treatment.

After graduation from Glasgow University I worked for two years at the Edinburgh Postgraduate Institute which gave me experience and insight into multiple disciplines within dentistry and also gained membership to the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh.  I then focused my interest in oral surgery and Implantology, working within the specialty of Oral and Maxillofacial for four years.  During this time I gained some fantastic posts which allowed me to work with, learn from and be observed by some of the best oral surgeons and implantologists in the world and since then I have attended hundreds of hours of postgraduate courses the majority within this field.  As a member of the Royal College of Surgeons, the British Association of Oral Surgeons and the Association of Dental Implantology, I have easy access to the latest approaches helping me learn and experience new methodologies, technologies and materials. Being able to provide ethical, evidence-based care backed by my many years of experience in this field is of paramount importance to me.

It’s a lovely feeling to be recognised by your peers.  A few years ago I was appointed a Senior Honorary Clinical Lecturer in Oral Surgery and Implantology at Edge Hill University and  I am also Mentor at the Implant Centre of Excellence Hospital at Salford Quays, Manchester where I lecture and supervise the MSc programme.  Over the past two years I have been more frequently asked to speak at numerous national and, more recently, international conferences, which for me is a great honour.  Being recognised and asked to help educate my peers and help others learn to overall benefit our patients has been an addition to my practice I really enjoy.  I strive to provide the standard of treatment that my peers would admire.

I have three amazing kids, Eva, Tom and George, my wife Grace also works in the practice and is honestly brilliant when it comes to treating children.  Life is busy, especially recently, but when I do have some downtime, you’ll find me making the most of the island’s fantastic coastline as a keen kitesurfer and trying hard to be a half decent surfer.
